Like the pot of water, heated gradually till it boils the proverbial frog, some labors progress so slowly or over such a long period of time that it is difficult to discern if labor is advancing (or happening at all) or if Mom is just getting tired of it after so long.

The purpose of this blog is to attest that a prodromal pattern of labor is within the normal range of labor possibilities, and that, though it can be challenging, a satisfying and invigorating birth can be attained, safely and enjoyably, without medication and devoid of the routine use of medical intervention.
The focus of this blog is on birth as a normal, physiological event, not a medical problem or emergency. Believe it or not, women (no matter their tolerance to pain) have made it through prodromal birth without pain medication or being cut open; giving birth to healthy, uncompromised, vigorous babies.
The birth stories herein speak to this, and are meant to help women who may find themselves in a prodromal pattern of labor. There are things that are useful to do when one finds herself in this pattern, and, conversely, choices that can fight against a safe and satisfying birth experience.

- I am a thirty-something native New Mexican wife of Casey, an amazing husband (Eph. 3:20 beyond anything I could ask or imagine . . .Thank You, God!) and mother of 4 children 5 and under, with whom I LOVE to spend my days diapering, dressing, feeding, training, holding, kissing and overall caring for these sweet blessings! (Though I often lose sight of the blessings they are when I'm right in the thick of things!)
